Also known as: PrairiesCan RAII
Federal funding — total program budget $33.8 million over 5 years under Budget 2024 (confirmed via deep research, 2026-07-10) — to help prairie businesses and organizations (MB/SK/AB) adopt or commercialize artificial intelligence technology, with priority sectors including agriculture, cleantech, healthcare, and manufacturing. For-profit businesses: interest-free, REPAYABLE contributions covering up to 50% of eligible project costs, $250,000–$5 million per project. Not-for-profits: non-repayable contributions covering up to 90% of eligible costs. Applications accepted continuously until December 31, 2028, or until funding is fully committed.
Continuous intake until December 31, 2028, or until funding is fully committed or otherwise announced. Contribution range re-confirmed 2026-07-19 on the program's /information.html sub-page (not this entry's sourceUrl, so not covered by the automated drift check): "PrairiesCan contributions must range between $250,000 to $5 million per project over a maximum of 3 years." — https://www.canada.ca/en/prairies-economic-development/services/funding/regional-artificial-intelligence-initiative/information.html.
Who qualifies
- Incorporated for-profit business or not-for-profit organization located in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, or Alberta
- Project adopts or commercializes AI technology
- For-profit: repayable, interest-free, up to 50% of eligible costs, $250K–$5M per project
- Not-for-profit: non-repayable, up to 90% of eligible costs
- CORRECTED (deep research, 2026-07-10, second independent search pass): the previously-cited '$10M per organization over the life of the program' hard gate does NOT exist — searched RAII's main page, its eligibility sub-page, and cross-checked other regions' RAII pages (e.g. ACOA's), found no such cap anywhere. The only per-organization limit is 'one RAII project approval per calendar year.' Do not cite a $10M lifetime cap to a client.
- All funded projects must be completed by March 31, 2029
